Our aim

We want everyone to be able to follow the reindeer's journey. This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA.

What we've done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, starting with a "Skip to content" link.
  • Focus is always visible, and the mobile menu closes with Escape.
  • Text meets AA contrast, and every photograph has a text description.
  • Animations are switched off if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Videos are linked rather than embedded, so they open in a player you already use.
  • The story filters are optional; without JavaScript every story is shown.

Known limitations

Some archive photographs are scans of old prints and may be low in detail. Their descriptions say what they show. Stories are written by participants and may not always use plain language.
